Leak Detection

If you think your pool may have a leak, the first step will be to complete a bucket test. The bucket test is a simple way to tell whether your pool is losing water and what, if any, further leak detection may be needed.

Bucket Test Instructions

Step 1

Fill a bucket with pool water and place it on a pool step so the water level inside the bucket matches the pool’s water level

Step 2

Mark the water level inside the bucket AND the water level on the pool with tape or permanent marker

Step 3

Leave the bucket in place for 24 hours with the pool pump running, and record the water loss in the bucket and in the pool with a ruler.

Step 4

Repeat test with your pump turned off for 24 hours and record the results.
